Many of you are subscribed to JTD so odds are you don’t have to worry about this recall. When the coffee in your cup is “Cherry-Flavored Decaf” you’ve hit rock bottom. Your coffee journey can only rise from this point and rejoice for the days to come. There are amazing coffee roasters first-cracking their way to amazing, natural, flavors of cherry. There is NEVER a need to purchase a bag that reads Flavored. It’s like considering trying a flavor infused cigar…stop it. Don’t do that.
Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA has initiated a voluntary recall of nearly 700 cases of Our Family's Traverse City Cherry-Flavored Decaf Light Roast Ground Coffee due to mislabeling. The affected 12-ounce bags, bearing a best-buy date of August 8, 2025, were mistakenly labeled as decaffeinated when they actually contain regular caffeinated coffee. Distributed across 15 states—including Colorado, Iowa, and Ohio—consumers should be vigilant when checking their coffee stash.
The FDA has classified this as a Class II recall, indicating that while exposure to the mislabeled product might cause temporary or medically reversible health effects, the likelihood of serious harm is minimal. This incident adds to a growing list of food product recalls this year, including International Delight Coffee Creamers and Frito-Lay Tostitos Chips. As of now, Massimo Zanetti Beverage USA has not issued a public comment on the matter.
Enjoy your decaf coffee. That isn’t the issue here, but there are 2 red flags in this coffee you need to look out for. You’re reading this so you’re a little more serious about your coffee. One—buy whole bean and grind before you brew. Dos—avoid anything with added flavor. That’s gross. Keep things natural…like the forrest of gray hair in my beard.
